Ode an den Lotus, for Viola

What does the Lotus Effect have to do with modal structures and prosodic forms of ancient Armenian sacred music? Tigran Mansurian attempts to fathom these mysteries - the magical plant with its unique qualities, and the magnificence of 'material folds' in Armenian music - in his Ode to the Lotus. The mystic sound of the viola seemed to him the most appropriate tonal medium for this purpose.
