The four-part motet «Non moriar, sed vivam» has a very interesting historical significance. When the reformer Martin Luther was not allowed to attend the decisive Reichstag in Augsburg in 1530 for security reasons, his friend Ludwig Senfl sent him the motet «Non moriar, sed vivam» (I will not die, but live), so that their text could comfort and build Luther.
This arrangement for string quartet is particularly suitable for use in instrumental lessons and string classes due to the not too difficult technical requirements.
