The First Part of Ayres , for Viola da gamba

In 1969 a facsimile edition of Tobias Hume's works was first published in London. The pieces in this volume are selected from these. Only what is written in tablature and not recorded in Musica Britannica was considered. The main aim was to make this highly original and instructive gamba music available to those unfamiliar with tablature reading.
