Margarete Huber, composer and singer, studied at the University of the Arts and Humboldt University in Berlin and previously in Bremen; and completed master classes with György Kurtag, Barbara Schlick and Nigel Rogers. Her compositional output includes works for opera, music theater, chamber music, orchestra, and electroacoustic music, which have been performed internationally. Recent works include the chamber opera «Schattenlos» (Schlossplatztheater Berlin) and music theater works for German Forum New York, Festspielhaus Hellerau, Musiktheatertage Wien, Sophiensäle Berlin, Zamek Poznan, Oetkerhalle Bielefeld, and Transartfestival, among others, as well as concertante works for Unerhörte Musik, Klangwerkstatt, Diagonale, Randfestspiele, Orléans concours de piano, ORF, and Deutschlandfunk. Her works are published by «Ries & Erler». In 2021 a CD of the pianist Fidan Aghayeva-Edler with a current piano cycle of Huber will be released by «Genuin records». Margarete Huber is a prizewinner of, among others, the International Music Competition for Young Culture and the Prix Marguerite de Reding; was a scholarship holder of the Festspielhaus Hellerau and the Festival Begehungen Chemnitz, and in 2020 received the «Arbeitsstipendium für Neue Musik» of the Berlin Senate. In 2021 she was awarded «Neustart Kultur Klassik» by the German Music Council and the German Music Fund, and became a finalist in the «Lied-Innovation» competition. Invitations as a lecturer have taken her to the International Congress on Microtonality, Musikhochschule Zürich and Soundance Festival. She is also equally active internationally as a singer, with opera roles from baroque to modern, songs, new music and world premieres; from Konzerthaus Berlin to Musica Antiqua Montenegro to Greek Opera Festival....
