Yossi Gutmann moved to Vienna in 1989. For many years he played the «Gibson Viola» by Antonio Stradivari. In 1993, together with the violinist Ivry Gitlis, he received an invitation from the Japanese Imperial Court to give a concert for the imperial family of Japan. In 1994 he founded the Stradivari Sextet Habisreutinger, a chamber music ensemble completely equipped with instruments by this legendary master.
Fascinated by new music and experimental avant-garde circles, Gutmann worked together with Péter Eötvös, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Steve Lacy.
