Jakob Gruchmann, born on September 23, 1991 in Salzburg, studied music theory and composition at the Mozarteum and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (both with distinction), received residence scholarships (including ARCO Marseille) and the annual scholarship of the province of Salzburg. His music is performed and honored worldwide (including the Takemitsu Award in Tokyo), and he has written more than 70 commissioned works, ranging from solo pieces to orchestral works. He is a professor and vice-rector at the Gustav Mahler University in Klagenfurt.
